If you’re dealing with an ongoing issue such as anxiety or a chronic illness, sessions at least once a month absolutely make sense. If you’d just like an hour of insight or uplift, however, I can see how a one-time session could fulfill those goals. I suppose I’d just add the question: If that one time made you feel great, why stop at just one session?

In a Crystal Reiki Balancing Session, the practitioner first places you on the BioMat filled with amethyst crystals and infrared heat. You are then led on a guided meditation to aid in relaxation. The practitioner tests your chakras to determine if there are any blockages. Specific crystals are placed on each of the chakras for their healing energy transfer. Then the practitioners hands are laid gently upon the person receiving the treatment in order to facilitate Reiki energy flow. The receiver lies down comfortably during the session, fully clothed. This is not a massage; rather the practitioner positions her hands at one place on the body until there is an energy shift, at which point she moves to another.

The full flow of a Reiki treatment moves from head to toe in a specific hand movement pattern (avoiding sensitive areas), but Reiki can still be effectively done with hands focused just on one area, such as the head or shoulders, upon request.
